Spring is HERE, crowds of people on the beaches, public piers are loaded with pier rats watching for their first cast to a migrating Cobia and I’m fishing every day the weather permits!
Our first Cobia was caught March 4th south of buoy 2 in 60 ft of water out of Port Canaveral. There’s hasn’t been many caught due to the high winds and rough seas the past week that I’ve heard of.The migration started a little early this year, I guess because the weather went from cold to hot towards the end of February and into March with lots of east southeast wind to help the fish along the coast. I’ve not been out since march 13th but hope to get out as soon as the seas settle down. I’m hoping that the cobia will start to show up in better numbers that way there is a better chance of catching one.
If you’re thinking about heading to the Space Coast for your vacation this year be sure and give me a call before you head this way, I’ll be glad to answer any questions you might have about the area.
I’ve fished through fishless days that I remember happily and without regret!
